Who:	Ocean Encounters Ocean Encounters was founded by two freediving champions, Frédéric Buyle and William Winram. Both passionate about the underwater world, they have together decided to reveal to the general public the true image of the oceans, particularly the natural behaviour of the great marine predators who suffer not only from illegal and cruel fishing practices but also from a poor image perpetuated by the media.

Summary:	Former breath-hold diving World Champions Fred Buyle and William Winram bring the world an unparalleled perspective on the marine ecosystem using the ancient art form of breath-hold diving. Both have worked and dove with over 15 species of sharks and areconsidered experts when working with these apex predators. They regularly volunteer their services to assist scientists in their efforts to study these animals by placing tagging devices for them, using their apnea skills. They will present photos and video of several of the tagging expeditions and speak about the importance of breath-hold diving as a means of interacting in a respectful manner with the marine ecosystem.
Information:

	Frédéric Buyle	World-renowned underwater photographer and four-time world record holder, Fred Buyle has been freediving since his childhood. He is a committed educator and environmentalist, assisting scientists in their research through his exceptional breath-hold diving skills.
	William Winram	Considered one of the best overall competitive breath-hold divers in the world, Vice World Champion 2009, William is also an avid conservationist. He has been using his breath-hold skills in shark-tagging expeditions along with fellow waterman Fred Buyle, to assist marine scientists in their efforts to protect these widely endangered animals.
